Informal Interactions With Steve Altizer

As CEO and President of such a fast-paced company in a rapidly evolving industry, how do you balance your work with your personal time?

It’s easy to get carried away and forget to invest in your personal time. We all need it. I plan it into my day and remain committed to that schedule. I’ve found it’s best to keep your feet planted firmly in both business and family. A positive family environment actually benefits one’s career, and likewise, a disciplined and organized approach to work can lead to more satisfaction in one’s time off. Watching or playing sports, participating in social activities and family get-togethers, staying fit, and enjoying other leisure activities are essential for recharging mental batteries and being physically able to perform at work.

I believe our entire company has adopted this philosophy. We have a bunch of highly productive people who will put in the time necessary to deliver a proposal, complete a project, solve an urgent problem, or make a critical repair. We are no sweat-shop, however. Our office lights are off before dinner time, and that, oddly, makes me very happy.
