The Democratization Of AI

Through the game-changing, Made-in-India platform, Shakti Cloud

From talks of the latest advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and computing to sessions brimming with visionary ideas, the recent NVIDIA GTC conference in San Jose, California, (March 18–21, 2024) buzzed with excitement. One particularly compelling talk was presented by Sunil Gupta—Yotta’s Co-founder, MD, and CEO and a central figure in India’s data center market growth narrative. Entitled “From the Ganges to the Globe: Shakti Cloud—An AI Platform from India, for India and the World,” this presentation focused both on AI’s transformative potential and India’s capability to lead this AI-driven era and establish itself as a technological powerhouse on a global scale. Specifically, it officially unveiled the groundbreaking Shakti Cloud platform, which was introduced through an article in Issue 14 of InterGlobix Magazine.

Powered by NVIDIA’s cutting-edge technology, this platform democratizes access to powerful AI and high-performance computing tools in order to empower companies of all sizes and level the playing field for innovation on a global scale. Developed in India but with the potential to transform industries and shape the future of AI worldwide, Shakti Cloud is a pioneering achievement in equitable digital infrastructure development. In the article that follows, I share the highlights of our CEO’s presentation and offer more insights into this exciting platform.

The Beginning of Shakti Cloud

India’s potential in AI came in the spotlight during a late 2023 meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang. Recognizing India’s potential, Jensen Huang pledged NVIDIA’s support to cultivate a robust AI ecosystem within the country. NVIDIA then sought an Indian company with the right blend of capabilities—i.e. a proven world-class infrastructure, IT services expertise, global ambitions, and a track record in innovation—to partner with them and help turn this potential into reality.

Yotta Data Services quickly emerged as the frontrunner for this partnership, as we are equipped with the exact combination of strengths NVIDIA was seeking. So, we promptly ordered GPUs, NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand, and NVIDIA AI Enterprise. This move culminated in the exciting announcement of the launch of Shakti Cloud, and we received the distinguished status of being the very first NVIDIA NCP Elite Partner from India.
