Informal Interactions with Juan Font

With your dual responsibilities as CEO & President of CoreSite and SVP of American Tower, how do you maintain your work-life balance?

When I first joined CoreSite, I had a full head of hair, and now it’s completely gone. So, frankly, I think I initially failed to find that balance, and it’s more challenging now that I’m juggling even more responsibilities. In addition to the titles you mentioned, I recently also joined the board of American Tower in Europe. However, something that has been an incredible help to me is my phenomenal team. These people are the best of the best, so I know I can focus on spending a lot of my time in Boston with American Tower, managing that partnership while knowing that my team has my back. It also helps that spending some of my working hours in Northern Virginia allows me to be in a data center every single day, working with data center operators and meeting with customers. This is tremendously energizing when you’re working with so many passionate and experienced individuals. Outside of work, I love golf. I’m terrible at it, but I enjoy being out there just having a good time. My kids are in college, so we like to go back to Spain to spend quality time together, see relatives, and rejuvenate.
