What is the significance of Atlantic Convergence 2024 to you?

I am fortunate to work with transformative technologies, including semiconductors, AI, blockchain, quantum computing, satellites, and cybersecurity. These technologies, when combined, are revolutionizing industries and infrastructure. Atlantic Convergence 2024 provided a unique opportunity to hear directly from the industry leaders. The content highlighted the synergies between these technologies and addressed the associated risks, such as cybersecurity and sustainability. The next Industrial Revolution requires collaboration as it reshapes nearly every aspect of infrastructure, including mobility, communications, energy, government, healthcare, and finance. This event offered an unparalleled chance to explore how the world is transforming and the opportunities associated with it.

How does your work fit into the overall interconnection ecosystem model, which encompasses the convergence of subsea and terrestrial fiber, subsea cables, neutral IX, and data centers?

My work spans several areas within the interconnection ecosystem, and cybersecurity. I serve on the board of SEALSQ, a company specializing in semiconductors, quantum security solutions, and managed PKI for IoT. As the co-founder of an Internet telecom company and an advisor to various cybersecurity, data, blockchain, and next-generation cloud computing companies, I have contributed to the development of innovative technologies. I have also served as the CEO of an AI company spun out of MIT and on the boards of a satellite company and a Bitcoin mining company. These experiences align with the convergence of technologies that drive the interconnection ecosystem.

What do you expect from Atlantic Convergence 2025?

This event brought together leaders from both sides of the Atlantic from a connectivity perspective, highlighting the growing significance of this region’s digital infrastructure. As the demand for interconnectivity continues to increase, the need for innovation and collaboration becomes even more critical. Reflecting on the past, there was a time when the rapid growth of the Internet posed challenges to the telecommunications network, raising concerns about its sustainability. Fortunately, innovators rose to the challenge and found solutions. The future is evolving at an exponentially increasing speed, creating unprecedented opportunities and challenges. This rapid transformation is complex, driving innovation across every facet of infrastructure, including connectivity, energy, communication, and digital ecosystems. I expect the conversations about these technologies and innovations to continue at Atlantic Convergence 2025.

Several financial institutions project that these technologies will contribute seven to ten percent of global GDP within the next decade. We are living in a transformative era, where the convergence of innovation and technology not only enables us to tackle critical global challenges but also fosters unprecedented economic growth and accelerates global GDP advancement.
