What is the current state of the data center market in your region?

Johor, the Malaysian state adjacent to Singapore, has undergone an unprecedented growth in new data center construction in the last two years. With an announced capacity of over 1,000MW to be built, it is one of the fastest data center capacity growth regions in the world.

What are the key drivers and goals of the data center business in your region? 

The key driver was initially the Singapore government’s moratorium on data center construction, which caused many operators to look outside Singapore. Johor, as the closest neighbor to Singapore with the required power capacity, became a natural choice for many hyperscale operators. The effect was then snowballed by operators entering the market in order to fulfill requirements from their respective customers.
