A watch with no dial, no hands, and no crown—BRING IT ON! Ulysse Nardin knocks it out of the park once again with their Freak ONE model, the winner of the coveted Grand Prix of Horlogerie of Geneva (GPHG) Iconic Watch Prize.
The absence of a dial showcases the raw beauty of a flying carousel movement that catches the eye and fires the imagination to read time using the minute bridge, which carries the gear train and completes one rotation in one hour. This means that the movement acts as the minute hand, while the hour hand is a pointer set on a rotating disc that serves as a barrel cover, placed under the movement.
The 44mm Freak ONE comes in a black DLC-coated titanium case with a satin finish and a rose gold bezel. It is equipped with the Caliber UN-240 Manufacture—an automatic movement that offers a 90-hour power reserve.
The freakishly stunning timepiece stays a class apart with three strap options: a black rubber “ballistic” textured strap (2405-500-2A/3D), a black matte alligator leather strap (2405-500-2A/3C), or a two-tone rubber strap (2405-500-2A/3A) made of 30 percent recycled rubber from production waste by BIWI, Switzerland.
Ulysse Nardin’s Freak ONE comes priced at 68,600 USD, excluding tax.
