Informal Interactions with Tim Parker

As a Senior Vice President of Network Strategy at Flexential, you must have a very demanding job. How do you balance your work-life balance

First, I love my career and what I do. I’m very fortunate to have a career I love—even more so, one that is exciting and challenging. Between that and the fact that I’m passionate about networking and bringing new people and new ideas together, I don’t see it as work. I also consider a lot of my colleagues as friends, and thus meetings or conferences are spending time with people I really like.

But there does need to be balance. For me it includes staying active by playing a lot of tennis and going trail running or hiking in the mountains (an advantage of being in Colorado over the summer and having flexible hours). Sometimes I get inspired while trail running and come home later to put an idea down on paper; other times it just gives me a mental break. I also love a good glass of wine, or just sitting on the beach and relaxing…but then again, who doesn’t?
