Porsche may be known for their sports cars, but now they’re planning to take their refined design, powerful drive technology, and sustainable mobility mission to the water.
To traverse this new territory, the German car manufacturer has teamed up with Austrian boat maker Frauscher—a family-run venture specializing in premium motorboats, electric boats, and yachts. As two brands propelled by innovation and finding ways to balance tried-and-tested traditional craftsmanship with new, high-quality materials and technology, both Frauscher and Porsche are seeing this new yacht as an opportunity to redefine not only luxury boating experiences, but also electric-powered transportation performance.
Combining the style and size of the Frauscher 858 Fantom Air with Porsche’s Premium Platform Electric driving technology (featured on the forthcoming all-electric Macan model), the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air will be formed by all the best parts of each company’s patented features—and optimized for high-powered, on-water use. For better thermal regulation, longer trips, and faster charging capabilities, Porsche brings its sophisticated 800-volt operating voltage (nearly double the standard electric vehicle norm) and a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery. While they’ll also be responsible for bringing their iconic design features to the the helm, seats / upholstery, steering wheel, and main console, the sleek structure is overall dominated by the Frauscher touch: think nine passenger seating, two bimini tops for shade cover, and a central aisle bookended by a free-standing helm and cockpit at the front and a swimming platform and sun pad lounge at the back. Performance doesn’t come at the cost of the party, either: the yacht will also feature an electric anchor as well as a premium refrigerator and sound system.
In addition to its enviable emission-free status, the Frauscher x Porsche electric yacht is also impressive in its versatility. You can just as easily make (nearly silent) waves in your local lake, bay, or harbor as you can in the rougher whitecaps of the sea. From relaxing family beach day to networking along coastal cities, it’s equally perfect for casual cruising and glitzy glamor. While the exact release date isn’t yet clear, the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air is on deck to launch the first 25 units in early 2024. Ready to captain your own?
