Between the competitive context of the industry (a crowded market with established players and continually shifting dynamics) and increasing challenges around sustainability, edge adaptability, and the fast-moving future of automation and AI, the road ahead for digital infrastructure is one that is filled with potential hurdles, potholes, and dead ends. Yet with the right people, expertise, and strategies in the driver’s seat, it’s also one that is paved with limitless opportunity for progress.
Everything BDx does is driven by one central concept: they want to unlock a new digital future to empower people, progress, and our planet. In a world where adaptation is not enough, they aim to accelerate a better future by developing the technology model—and related infrastructure, interconnectivity, and cloud ecosystems—to innovate continuously, accelerate digital delivery, and support communities, particularly in emerging markets.
The roadmap for catalyzing such a revolution in possibilities and unlocking this new and improved digital future involves a lot of moving parts and pathways, but right now—in addition to the sustainability initiatives already highlighted—the BDx strategy is focused on key APAC growth markets and new stakeholder collaborations.
Future Expansion in APAC
When BDx is looking at where, when, and how to take their business next, they’re not just thinking in generalized terms. While of course it would be great to start creating AI-ready data centers like the one they have now Indonesia, especially as their ultimate goal is to move into more countries with heavier deployments, they’re not just going to go into every country with the same approach. They want to continue solving for the unique needs of each country and tailor their next steps accordingly.
In Indonesia, they will be focusing on further expansion and upgrades of their data center capacity by establishing a super interconnected IX ecosystem and digital infrastructure mesh and leveraging AI and renewable energy technologies to meet the growing demands of the digital era. Their continued goal with Indonesia is to establish this country not only as a key player in the APAC data center and digital infrastructure markets, but also as a digital economy and AI powerhouse.
BDx has already developed both brownfields and greenfields designed to deliver on specific hyperscalers’ requirements—particularly in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan—but as they begin to get into more markets, maybe as soon as next year, they could look at bringing this same development with more capacity and more green power to Japan, Korea, or Australia.
Future Opportunities to Collaborate
Partnerships have always been a crucial part of the BDx ethos, and the company sees the potential for even more collaboration between the data center industry and other stakeholders, like government and research institutions, in order to accelerate everything from basic infrastructure needs in connectivity, efficiency, and home-grown talent to larger societal needs in sustainable practices, community empowerment, and AI readiness.
In Singapore, for example, BDx is actively engaged in collaborative efforts with the National University of Singapore and Sembcorp Marine to explore the development of sustainable ocean data centers. They have also partnered with academia and the startup ecosystem to develop LLMs tailored to the data center industry. Likewise, in Indonesia, the Spirit of Gotong Royong (an Indonesian spirit of volunteerism and working together for the benefits of the community) extends to everyone, and the government has been one of their biggest champions.
Particularly when it comes to issues that affect everyone on our planet—and the planet itself—we are stronger when we work together and bring different perspectives, resources, and creativity to the table. BDx has embodied that mentality from the beginning, and they plan to continue doing so along the road ahead.
Crafting a New Blueprint
From fostering emerging regional markets to enhancing large-scale global digitalization, engineering a roadmap to a digital future means not just thinking about access today, but also access tomorrow. How can we empower everyone, connect everything, drive equity, and pioneer new paths—and also anticipate how we can continue doing so in the future? These are the questions BDx continues to ask and answer of both themselves and the industry at large. By providing equal opportunities, engineering seamless integration and collaboration, fostering a foundation for diverse voices, and exploring uncharted territories, they are better able not only to foresee challenges and opportunities, but also drive agile strategies for inclusive, effective, and rapid progress and create a sustainable digital skills and development framework for generations to come.
